At the core of the machine is a powerful 5 HP motor driving a helical cutterhead equipped with 100 four-sided carbide inserts. The insert configuration shears wood fibers at an angle, producing smoother surfaces with dramatically reduced tear-out on figured hardwoods and difficult grain patterns. The carbide inserts are self-indexing and individually replaceable, eliminating the need for knife-setting gauges while minimizing maintenance time and operating costs.
